WHAT WE DO
Getting into Work
Mentoring, Advice, and Advocacy
Are you a disabled adult wanting to start your own business, return to work after a significant break, or are you seeking support in the workplace for the first time? Our team can offer advice and support, and can assist with Access to Work applications from end-to-end, whether you are employed, self-employed, or returning.
Grant Funding for Disabled Individuals
If you are not currently in education or employment, and don’t meet the criteria for social care, we might be able to help you to access funding, either through other agencies, or from our own funding pot. We accept applications on an ongoing basis and meet quarterly to award funding to successful applications.

How it works
Getting Funding
Who we fund
Our primary area of focus is disabled adults in or returning to the workforce, or disabled school leavers who are joining the workforce. We may extend funding to others at the discretion of the trustees.
What we fund
We can fund items such as adaptive technology, software, furniture, devices, or other adaptations, or provide funded support staff for internships and voluntary placements for a fixed term.
Who can apply
Applications are open to the general public in England. We prioritise applications from South East Northumberland, or from individuals who are connected with or known to Stephanie Ward Online Business Services Ltd, Spicy Brain Energy Ltd, or AbiliTrain Ltd, before considering applications from the wider community.
How to apply
First, check eligibility, and complete our online form. You will need to attach ID, proof of address, a quote for what you need funding for, and any supporting evidence that supports your application, such as a doctor’s letter.
What Drives Us
Our Mission
Our founder, Stephanie Ward, is on a mission to change the trajectory of the lives of the disabled workforce. Her physical disability and neurodivergent condition set her on a path she could never have imagined, and when she began to take control of her condition, she discovered the Ability in her Disability. Today, she leads three companies and this charity, and is changing the lives of disabled adults around the country by helping them to realise their potential and achieve their ambitions.
